SnapGift is an app extension that enables peer to peer transactions with gift cards. My inspiration for this concept came from the birthday party feature in Snapchat’s geofilters. On your birthday, Snapchat gives you access to a one-day-only filter to celebrate the occasion. This led to a question: What if there were additional features that could give special events more meaning besides just Birthday Snaps? One simple solution I came up with is the implementation of a gift card system in Snapchat that utilizes similar features to SnapCash.
SnapGift can be accessed by swiping right to Snapchat's messages and navigated through the bottom nav bar of the application. There you can find the SnapGift Icon placed in symmetry with the Snapcash Icon. Once you tap on the icon, a category of gift cards will slide up; giving you the freedom to browse through an array of gift cards and select the one you want. After choosing a gift card, a new window will pop up that prompts you to enter your debit or credit card information.
After the card information has been verified, you can then input a set gift card amount that will be charged to you card. This page was inspired by Snapchat's "Enter CVV" warning for SnapCash.
Lastly, you will see a message indicating that your gift card has been sent and/or received. Tapping on the message will display additional information about the gift card as well as instructions on how to redeem your SnapGift.
